Popular restaurant owner Mr. Ugwu Ofor (also known as Ofor Onye Ofe Olubu) was shot and killed by a Neighborhood Watch member in Igboeze North local government area of Enugu State.

It was learned that the ugly incident occurred on Monday night, April 15, 2024, at Ogrute Roundabout.

In a video that went viral on social media, angry young people are said to have set fire to a Neighborhood Watch security van after Ofor was brutally killed.

An eyewitness said that the security personnel had encountered resistance when attempting to make an arrest at Ofor’s eatery.

As a consequence, the proprietor of the restaurant and the security guard got into a fight, during which one of them shot Ofor in the back.

“Subsequently, the security personnel fled the scene, abandoning their vehicle, which was later set on fire by angry locals, he said.

He added that after being taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Ogrute, Ofor was declared dead early on Tuesday, April 16.
