Manchester United fans will no longer be able to print the names of club legends Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham, and Eric Cantona on replica jerseys bought at the official megastore.
The restriction, which came to light ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season, is due to unresolved image and licensing rights involving the three former players.
A notice displayed in the club’s Old Trafford megastore reads:
“Due to licensing restrictions, we are unable to print Cantona, Beckham, and Ronaldo.”
The affected names are trademarked or commercially controlled by the players themselves, preventing the club from legally reproducing them on official merchandise without separate agreements.
The decision has stirred disappointment among fans, many of whom hoped to honour the legends with personalized shirts.
While unofficial vendors may still offer custom options, such products fall outside the club’s licensing protections and are not recognized as official Manchester United merchandise.
