Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, is urging his new goalkeeper, Andre Onana, to follow in the footsteps of club legends.
Freshreporters News understands that Onana was signed from Inter Milan for €52.50 million on July 20, 2023, as a replacement for David de Gea.
However, Onana has been facing challenges as the team’s primary goalkeeper. In his eight Premier League appearances for Manchester United, he has allowed a total of 12 goals and only managed two clean sheets.
Some of his mistakes have even led to the team losing matches, leading to calls from fans for a new goalkeeper.
In response to Onana’s struggles, Erik ten Hag drew a parallel with legendary United keepers like Schmeichel and De Gea, noting that they too had rough starts.
He expressed confidence that Onana, who he previously coached at Ajax, would improve.
Ten Hag acknowledged the typical adjustment period required for newcomers to the Premier League but emphasized his belief that Onana would rise to the occasion.
