The city of Lagos is in mourning following the death of Oba De Wheno Aholu Menu-Toyi, the revered Akran of Badagry. The traditional ruler passed away at the age of 89 after a brief illness, bringing an end to his historic 48-year reign, one of the longest in Lagos State’s history.
His passing was confirmed by the palace, and traditional burial rites have commenced. Residents of the Badagry Kingdom have expressed profound grief, describing the late Oba not only as their king but as a paternal figure whose wisdom and guidance provided stability and reassurance for generations.
As of the latest reports, the Lagos State Government has not yet issued an official statement regarding the monarch’s passing.
