At least three people have been detained by agents of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC) for allegedly purchasing votes in Sokoto State on Saturday during the byelection process.
The development was disclosed by the commission in a post on its official X account.
According to the post, N3,105,400 was found inside the voting premises when the suspects were apprehended in a polling place at the Yabo/Shagari Federal Constituency in Sokoto State.
The commission declared that all of the suspects had been placed under arrest and emphasized that an investigation had begun to determine the motive behind the conduct.
The ICPC declared that it will collaborate with INEC to prosecute the charges.
