AFCON: Nigeria Set To Face South Africa in Semifinals Showdown

South Africa advanced to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semifinals for the first time since 2000, thanks a the four saves from Ronwen Williams in an incredible penalty shootout.

Hugo Broos appears to be discovering the same formula that allowed him to win the title with Cameroon in 2019 after defeating pre-tournament favorites and the highest-ranked African country, Morocco.

Ademola Lookman’s strike gave Nigeria a 1-0 victory against Angola on Friday, while Arthur Masuaku’s late free-kick winner helped the Democratic Republic of Congo overcome Guinea 3-1.

Football fans may look forward to two thrilling Africa Cup of Nations matches on Wednesday, February 7. Ivory Coast plays the Democratic Republic of the Congo at Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan at 9 p.m. WAT, while Nigeria plays South Africa at Stade de la Paix in Bouake at 6 p.m. WAT.
