“I Sold a Limousine to Buy Motorcycles for My Pastors” — Pastor Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has recounted a story of divine providence and selfless stewardship from his early ministry days.

Speaking at a church thanksgiving service, Adeboye recalled being gifted a Mercedes Benz by an elderly woman while he was still traveling by bus. Surprised and cautious, he initially left the car unused, worried it might be inappropriate. He said he dreamed God questioned his hesitation, asking, “Why are you robbing my daughter of her blessing? She sowed a seed, and you are not allowing the seed to germinate.”

Obeying this divine instruction, he accepted the car. He later offered it to his then-deputy, the late Pastor Abiodun, who encouraged Adeboye to keep it for himself. Subsequently, he astonishingly received three more Mercedes cars as gifts.

While still pondering what to do with these vehicles, another unexpected gift arrived. A man showed up at his house at 2:00 a.m. with a rare six-door Mercedes limousine, saying God had directed him to deliver it immediately.

Overwhelmed, Adeboye recalled praying, “Even if I die and they put me in this car, I will wake up. Will you permit me to sell the car?” After receiving what he believed was divine permission, he proceeded to sell the luxury limousine.

The pastor concluded his testimony by revealing how he used the proceeds: “I remember I sold it and used the money to buy motorcycles for my pastors.”
