Kikelomo Atanda-Owo, the wife of veteran journalist Reuben Abati, has opened up about her two previous marriages, explaining they ended due to betrayal and abuse.

Speaking on The Morayo Show alongside her husband, Atanda-Owo shared that her past relationships profoundly shaped her perspective on love, healing, and self-respect.

She revealed that her first marriage dissolved after she discovered her husband was secretly gay. Her second marriage, she said, was marked by abuse and infidelity. These painful experiences, while leaving deep emotional scars, ultimately became a catalyst for her personal growth and recovery.

Reflecting on the lessons learned, she stated that the failures taught her the critical importance of self-awareness and being deliberate in choosing a partner, emphasising that love alone cannot sustain a marriage.

Atanda-Owo, a marketing executive and CEO of Z-Edge Holdings, married Abati as his third wife in 2023. Despite the heartbreak of her past, she expressed no regrets, highlighting that her children remain the greatest gifts from those chapters of her life.

During the interview, Reuben Abati affirmed that their union is founded not on materialism, but on shared values, intellectual compatibility, and mutual understanding. He also offered counsel to those in abusive relationships, urging them to find a way out and reassuring them that there is hope and life beyond such traumatic experiences.
