On Saturday, Tasnim news agency reported that Akbar Limuchi, the Chief Editor of Tavsa-e-Jonob, was shot dead by a gunman in a cafe in Izeh city, located in Iran’s southwestern province of Khuzestan.

The attacker fled after the shooting and police have launched an investigation to identify the culprit.

This incident follows a series of recent attacks with unclear motives, including the killing of a senior police investigator and his wife, a senior Iranian cleric, and a car-ramming incident injuring two religious students.

The unrest in Iran has been ongoing since last autumn, following the death of Mahsa Amini, an Iranian-Kurdish woman who died in police custody for allegedly violating dress codes. (dpa/NAN)
