Sudan conflict: 125 More Nigerians return from Sudan, bringing total evacuees to 2,371

  • A group of 125 Nigerians arrived safely in Abuja on Saturday, after escaping the conflict in Sudan.
  • This brings the total number of Nigerians evacuated from Sudan to 2,371.
  • Upon landing, the returnees went through processing conducted by immigration officials, with assistance from NEMA and the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons.

Over the weekend, a group of 125 Nigerians returned home from Sudan after escaping the ongoing conflict in the country.

The evacuees arrived at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja aboard a Tarco B737-300 aircraft from Port Sudan.

This latest group of arrivals has brought the total count of Nigerians evacuated from Sudan to 2,371.

Upon landing, the returnees went through processing conducted by immigration officials, with assistance from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons.

It is expected that the government will provide support to the returnees to ensure they can reintegrate into their communities and rebuild their lives.

The conflict in Sudan has displaced many people, and Nigeria has been one of the countries providing assistance to those affected.
