Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his commitment to peace, security, and good governance, assuring both residents and visitors that the state remains safe despite ongoing political friction.
Speaking at a public event, Governor Fubara emphasized that he remains firmly in office and dedicated to fulfilling his promises. “What is important is that I am here. I am still the Governor of Rivers State, and we will continue to do what we promised the Rivers people,” he stated.
To illustrate the state’s stability, the governor pointed to a recent week-long sporting tournament held in Rivers, noting that President Bola Tinubu publicly acknowledged the absence of any security incidents during the event. He framed this as evidence of his administration’s effective efforts in maintaining peace.
Fubara stressed that the protection of lives and property is his administration’s top priority and pledged continued support for individuals and groups working toward the state’s progress. He urged visitors to form their opinions based on personal experience rather than social media narratives, stating, “Take home the story that it is not what you hear on social media. Rivers State is safe.”
The governor concluded by pledging that he would not support any actions, direct or indirect, that could endanger lives. These remarks are seen as an effort to project stability and continuity of governance during a period of heightened political activity in the state.
