The clip, recorded ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations match against Morocco, shows Chukwueze questioning the commitment of goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali and defender Calvin Bassey for playing with high intensity despite reportedly unpaid allowances and bonuses.
In the video, after Nwabali remarks, “I never see anything” (referring to payments), Chukwueze responds, “Una get mind sha o, you haven’t seen your money and you were defending with your life and delaying the time, you even almost injured your knee.”
Many fans online have linked the video to Chukwueze’s missed penalty kick in the subsequent match against Morocco, interpreting his comments as a sign of disrespect toward his teammates’ dedication and professionalism.
