Three residents of Kogi State have been freed after being held captive for over four weeks, with their families securing their release by paying a ransom to the kidnappers. The victims Eniojukan Samuel, Eniojukan Bunmi, and Ekomitan Mary were abducted along the notorious Ihale–Taki Road in the Taki community of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, a route known for frequent criminal activity.
Local sources and media confirmed the victims’ release, though the exact amount paid and details of the negotiations have not been disclosed. Their return has brought relief to their families and the Taki community, which had been living in fear since the abduction over a month ago.
This incident highlights the persistent insecurity plaguing Kogi State and Nigeria’s wider North-Central region, including Kwara, Niger, Benue, and Plateau states. Despite repeated assurances from security agencies and state governments, residents report worsening conditions, forcing many families to liquidate assets or raise substantial sums to free abducted loved ones.
