Father of Kano Mürder Suspect Calls for Son’s Execution, Alleges Past Sister K!lling

The father of the main suspect in the Dorayi Chiranchi killings in Kano has publicly urged authorities to impose the maximum legal punishment on his son, Umar Auwal, without delay. Umar is accused of murdering his aunt, Fatima Abubakar, and her six children at their residence in Dorayi Gidan Kwari, an act that has provoked widespread condemnation.

President Bola Tinubu denounced the brutal attack and directed a full investigation, while the Kano State government has stated it will oversee the prosecution of all arrested suspects.

Police confirm that Umar is in custody and has admitted to the murders, as well as to a separate attack in Tudun Yola where two women were killed and their home set ablaze. The Dorayi victims have been identified as Maimuna (17), Aisha (16), Bashir (13), Abubakar (10), Faruk (7), and Abdussalam (1½).

During a radio interview, Malam Auwal disowned his son, labeling him “useless to society” and insisting he should face execution rather than imprisonment. He further alleged that Umar had previously killed his own younger sister and removed her eyes.

Auwal commended the police for their handling of the case, stating he had already “sacrificed” his son. He added that neither he nor Umar’s mother would attend any court proceedings throughout the trial.
