Missing EKSU Student Found Safe in Osun State

The Ekiti State Police Command has confirmed that a 21-year-old student of Ekiti State University, Damilola Praise, previously reported missing, has been located alive.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abutu Sunday, made this known in a statement provided to Western Post, explaining that the student was found following directives from the Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo.

Damilola had traveled from Lagos to Ado-Ekiti on January 5, 2026, and contacted his parents briefly after arriving before his phone lines became unreachable, causing alarm among family and friends.

Upon receiving the report, police mobilized the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department to trace his location. Investigators eventually tracked the student to Osogbo, Osun State, where he was found after what authorities called a painstaking search.

During questioning, Damilola reportedly stated that he was neither abducted nor kidnapped but had intentionally remained out of contact with his parents due to struggles with his academic performance.

Police added that the student had already obtained employment with a private security company. The commissioner also urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information that could create unnecessary panic.
