Fake Doctor Apprehended In Jigawa State Pharmaceutical Store Raid

In a joint operation conducted by the Jigawa State Police Command and the Department of State Services (DSS) Jigawa State Command, a raid was carried out on the premises of Shawai Medical Plus, a pharmaceutical store located along Mopol Base in Sabuwar Takur, Dutse metropolitan.

The operation, which took place on the 4th of July 2023 at approximately 1700hrs, was initiated based on a tip-off received by the authorities.

During the raid, the law enforcement agencies apprehended an individual identified as David Samuel, who claimed to be a Medical Doctor attached to Rasheed Shekoni Teaching Hospital in Dutse. However, further investigation revealed that the suspect was operating as a fake doctor.

According to the Special Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse, the imposter had been providing medical consultancy services, prescribing medication, and offering home services to unspecified victims.

The suspect had managed to forge several documents, including a degree certificate from Usman Danfodiyo University in Sokoto, an NYSC certificate, and a membership medical certificate from the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA).

Upon interrogation, David Samuel admitted to forging all the documents found in his possession. He confessed to being a university dropout from Usman Danfodiyo University in Sokoto State.

Following the completion of a thorough investigation, the suspect will be charged to court for prosecution. The Jigawa State Police Command and the DSS are committed to ensuring that justice is served in this case of impersonation and potential endangerment of unsuspecting victims.

DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Police Command, Dutse, expressed the determination of the law enforcement agencies to maintain the integrity of the medical profession and protect the public from such fraudulent activities.
