Gunmen K!ll Police Officer, Jude Ukpaka In Delta, Cart Away AK-47 (Photo)

In a tragic incident in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, a police officer named Jude Ukpaka, who was attached to Dragon 19 under the Ughelli Area Command, was shot dead by suspected gunmen. The assailants also made off with Ukpaka’s Ak-47 rifle.

The incident occurred near the Evwreni axis of the East-West road while Ukpaka and two other officers from Dragon 19 were manning a checkpoint. As the gunmen opened fire, Ukpaka lost his life, while the other officers managed to escape by fleeing into the nearby swamp.

A reliable security source within the Delta State Police Command, speaking on the condition of anonymity, confirmed the unfortunate incident. The source revealed that the attack took place, coincidentally, in the same vicinity where earlier that day, travelers returning from Bayelsa had been targeted by assailants.

This incident serves as a grim reminder of the growing security concerns in the region. Just two months ago, in Ughelli North’s Ekredjebor community, two police officers, PC Ujeyah Matthew and Sergeant Ijebu, were killed, and their firearms were stolen.

The authorities are working diligently to investigate these incidents and bring the culprits to justice. The safety of both law enforcement personnel and the general public remains a top priority, and measures are being taken to enhance security in the area.
