Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, former National Publicity Secretary of the now-defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), isn’t holding back. He’s slammed the backlash aimed at Rotimi Amaechi, ex-Transportation Minister, for voicing his frustration about the tough times hitting Nigerians.
According to Freshreporters News, Amaechi didn’t mince words. He admitted he was disappointed that Nigerians, especially the youth, haven’t taken to the streets to protest the skyrocketing cost of living.
But, boy, did that ruffle some feathers! Politicians like Omoyele Sowore and Bello Matawalle, alongside the All Progressives Congress (APC), were quick to lash out. They accused Amaechi of stirring the public and trying to spark unrest.
Eze, clearly puzzled by the outrage, couldn’t understand what Amaechi said that deserved such heat. “Honestly,” he said, “any right-thinking Nigerian will agree that Amaechi hasn’t committed any blunder.”
He continued, “What exactly is so hard for Sowore, Morka, Matawalle, Sani, and Onanuga to grasp about Amaechi’s point? Where’s the evidence that this government is serious about hearing the people’s cries and tackling the frustration they face?”
Eze didn’t stop there. “Just the other day,” he pointed out, “the APC-led government jacked up fuel prices to over a thousand Naira, yet no meaningful steps have been taken to address the poverty, insecurity, and loss of lives that followed.”
He found it outrageous that people like Amaechi are expected to sit quietly, “like furniture,” and watch Nigeria fall apart. “Let’s be clear—if those who care about this country, like Amaechi, keep quiet, Nigeria will collapse beyond saving under this reckless administration.”
Eze was livid about the media attacks on Amaechi, calling them baseless. “It’s obvious that the government’s strategy is to weaponize poverty ahead of 2027. This should seriously worry every patriotic Nigerian.”
Rather than address the pressing issues, Eze noted with frustration, the government chose to throw “frivolous” responses at Amaechi. “What Nigerians need to hear is the administration’s plan to pull the country out of this mess—not petty reactions to the obvious truth,” he added.
Eze ended by reminding everyone about Amaechi’s achievements: “Let’s not forget, when Amaechi was Governor, he led Port Harcourt to beat out cities across the world and win the prestigious World Book Capital title.”…[CONTINUE READING HERE]>>
