The Director of News at the Rivers State Broadcasting Corporation (RSBC), Mrs. Priestba Anthony Nwokocha, has been kidnapped in Port Harcourt.
The shocking incident came to light when the Director of Administration of the station, Pastor Ebi Ogoloma, reported the abduction.
Mrs. Nwokocha was abducted between 7 pm and 8 pm on Friday, July 21, while she was on her way home from work. The incident occurred along the Slaughter/YKC road in Port Harcourt.
According to family sources, her car had broken down on the road, prompting her to call her husband for assistance. He arrived later with a mechanic to fix the car, but during this time, the kidnappers struck.
In a mysterious turn of events, the kidnappers only targeted Mrs. Nwokocha, leaving her husband and the mechanic unharmed. As of now, the motive behind the abduction remains unknown.
The Nigeria Union Journalists (NUJ) Secretary, Ike Wigodo, has urged calm among journalists in the State. The Union has contacted CP Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka, the Commissioner of Police, regarding the incident.
The Commissioner advised the family to file a preliminary report at the nearest Police Station, assuring them that the police command is aware of the situation and will take appropriate action.
At the time of reporting, the kidnappers have not made any contact with the family, and the whereabouts of Mrs. Priestba Anthony Nwokocha remain unknown. Authorities and the public are urged to stay vigilant and cooperate in any way possible to ensure her safe return. (CONTINUE READING HERE)
