Renowned Nigerian musician and record producer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has unveiled a brand-new official video for DMW’s recent signee, Logos Olori’s debut single titled ‘Jaye Lo’.
It may be recalled that Davido faced criticism last month when he initially shared the ‘Jaye Lo’ music video on social media platforms.
The internationally acclaimed singer faced backlash, particularly from Muslim communities, particularly in the northern region, due to certain scenes in the video that were deemed offensive.
In the video, individuals dressed in white Jalabiya attire were depicted dancing in front of a structure resembling a mosque.
These same individuals were also shown engaging in prayer before transitioning into dance movements in sync with the music.
Despite the removal of the video, some members of the Muslim community continued to demand a public apology from Davido.
The situation escalated, with youths in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, setting fire to a large banner featuring the singer as an expression of their displeasure. The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), an advocacy group, went further by calling on the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate Davido. Throughout this period, Davido chose to remain silent despite the criticism on social media platforms.
However, on Friday, Davido utilized his verified social media accounts to announce the release of a new music video for ‘Jaye Lo’.
The new version of the video, as observed by Naija News, showcases Olori displaying his dancing prowess alongside a group of vixens. Notably, the controversial scenes from the initial video have been removed by DMW.
In brief commentary, DMW described the latest rendition of the ‘Jaye Lo’ video as featuring “clean visuals” characterized by an “appealing style”.
