Dangote Refinery Signs Deal to Supply 65m Litres of Petrol Daily

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has sealed a supply agreement with 12 major oil marketing companies, including MRS Oil Nigeria Plc and TotalEnergies, to distribute between 60 and 65 million litres of petrol daily across the country.

The Lekki-based facility stated that the volume matches Nigeria’s estimated daily consumption of 50 to 60 million litres, with any surplus directed toward export markets.

Operational since early 2025, the 650,000-barrels-per-day refinery is the largest single-train facility in Africa. Industry experts believe the partnership will enhance fuel availability, cut import dependency, ease pressure on foreign exchange, and advance Nigeria’s goal of energy self-sufficiency.

Analysts also note that sustained local refining could help stabilise supply chains and ease cost pressures linked to fuel across the broader economy.
