The Bureau de Change operators in Abuja have announced the permanent closure of their business premises due to foreign exchange scarcity, effective Thursday, February 1, 2024, in the midst of Nigeria’s currency crisis.
This was revealed in a statement released on Wednesday by Abdullahi Dauran, the chairman of BDC operators in Abuja.
Dauran emphasized that their choice to close was due to a lack of funding.
He went on to say that the scarcity of dollars was caused by cryptocurrency and internet commercial activities.
Data FMDQ on Thursday showed that the Naira marginally appreciated N1,455.59 per US dollar from N1,482.57 on Wednesday. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
