Band!ts att@ck: We’re not noise makers – Okai fires back at Gov Ododo

On Saturday, Austin Okai – the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency in the 2023 elections – urged Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State to prioritize security over politics.

Due to his failure to visit the Omala community where bandits killed at least 25 people last month, Okai referred to Ododo as a novice governor.

It should be noted that the community of Agojeju Odo in Omala local government area of the state was attacked by suspected bandits, resulting in approximately 25 casualties and numerous houses being set on fire.

After observing his Eid-el-fitri prayers at the Okene Eid praying ground in Okene, Ododo spoke to journalists and expressed that he was not bothered by recent criticism directed towards his administration. He believed responding would only give importance to those who promote negativity.

He stated that his mandate from the people of Kogi State and Mr. President does not include responding to individuals who make noise and have no involvement in governance.

Okai criticized Ododo for politicizing insecurity by asking why the man arrested in connection with the killings was not publicly paraded and his identity concealed.

According to Okai, it would have been more appropriate if Ododo had taken the matter seriously and informed the citizens of Omala about the arrest of the suspect in order to silence us. However, he made an announcement in Kogi central’s town of Okene instead.

He stressed that the people of Kogi should not have high expectations from the Ododo government.

The delayed response of the governor to the incident and his failure to promptly visit Omala were criticized by him.

He added: “It is evident that the governor is mocking the people of Omala. It took him three days after the killings to react, and now he claims that the President gave him the mandate. It is clear that there is confusion.

“The president does not give mandates because the governor is the appointee of the people of the state, not the president. This shows that Usman Ododo believes he was pronounced by INEC based on a conspiracy theory.

“How can a governor say the President gave him a mandate? Is the President a Kogite? Usman Ododo should wake up and do his job.

“Usman Ododo remains clueless as far as I am concerned. If he understands the rudiments of governance, he should have visited Omala where over 25 people were killed by bandits.

“He has failed to create alternative shelters for the victims or send relief items to them in over two weeks since the incident occurred”…[CONTINUE READING HERE]>>
