A forest guard named Samuel has been killed in an ambush by suspected bandits in Koro community, Kwara State.
The attack occurred after the forest guards acted on intelligence indicating a possible armed invasion. As they moved into the area to preempt the threat, they were reportedly ambushed by the heavily armed assailants.
During the clash, Samuel was fatally shot. Eyewitnesses reported the attackers also set fire to more than five motorcycles before fleeing, intensifying panic within the community.
Koro, a community in Ekiti Local Government Area that borders Egbe in Kogi State, has faced escalating security challenges in recent months.
