On Thursday, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde hosted All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Tinubu at the Government House in Ibadan, where he hinted at how the people of the state will vote in the February 25 presidential election in Nigeria.
In Ibadan, at the Government House, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde received a visit from All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Tinubu, who requested his support for the February 25 presidential election.
Makinde, who is one of the popular PDP Governors known as the G5 and has disagreements with the PDP national leadership, stated that the people of Oyo would vote for equity, fairness, and justice over politics in the upcoming polls.
He also wished Tinubu success in his campaigns.
The visit was attended by some of the APC chieftains, including former Osun State Governor Chief Bisi Akande, Minister of Youth and Sports Development Sunday Dare, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, and former governors of Ekiti and Osun Kayode Fayemi and Gboyega Oyetola, respectively.

He urged Tinubu to “feel free to campaign in the state, saying everything has been done to ensure the event is peaceful and hitch-free.”
He said his administration “believes in putting people first, stating that “political players will come and go, but the country will remain.”
Speaking on the position of the G-5 and the challenges rocking the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, Makinde said “If they have to choose between their individual aspiration and the unity of the country, they will choose Nigeria’s unity.”
“There has to be inclusiveness by all sections of the country in power-sharing if the country must progress.
“If the country does not survive, how can anyone aspire to be anything in that country,” he said.
Tinubu expressed gratitude to Makinde for the warm welcome and hospitality, stating that his visit was to show him the respect he deserves as the chief executive of Oyo State.

“I cannot come to Oyo State to campaign for votes without visiting you to pay my respect to you as a governor, leader and an Omoluabi.”
Following his meeting with Governor Makinde, the APC presidential candidate Bola Tinubu’s campaign team also met with traditional rulers from the South-west zone before moving to Mapo Hall, where a large crowd had gathered to hear them speak at the rally.
