The Zamfara State Government has allocated N1 billion for the construction of modern cemeteries across the state’s 14 local government areas, as it grapples with continued deadly attacks by armed bandits.
This provision is included in the state’s approved 2026 budget under the Ministry of Religious Affairs. It arrives amidst a relentless wave of violence affecting numerous communities, where mass fatalities from banditry have become tragically common.
The budget decision follows fresh reports of lethal attacks. On Wednesday evening, bandits ambushed residents of Kyaram community, killing at least five people, with several others still unaccounted for.
In a separate incident on January 29, 2025, suspected bandits raided Gwargwaba village in Bungudu Local Government Area, killing at least four people.
