Woman and Infant K!lled, Ten Injûred in Ikorodu Road Bus Cràsh

A fatal accident on Ikorodu Road in Lagos has resulted in the deaths of a woman and an infant, leaving ten others with serious injuries.

The crash occurred near the Obanikoro area when a speeding red Tata commercial bus lost control, crashed through the road median, and collided head-on with a Volkswagen bus traveling in the opposite direction. The impact proved fatal for an adult woman and an eight-month-old baby.

Officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), with assistance from bystanders, immediately conducted rescue operations at the scene. Ten survivors, including both drivers, were extricated with varying serious injuries and urgently transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Following the rescue, authorities secured the accident site and cleared the damaged vehicles to restore traffic flow along the heavily congested route. The tragedy has prompted renewed calls from traffic officials for motorists to exercise caution, emphasizing that excessive speed and poorly maintained vehicles remain primary causes of preventable loss of life on Lagos roads.
