Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has disclosed that more than 15,000 applications were submitted for the 3,000 vacancies recently announced in the state civil service.
The recruitment exercise, which covers teaching, health, and core civil service sectors, was initiated after the government uncovered 3,000 ghost workers during a verification exercise.
Speaking in Uyo during the monthly prayer service on Friday, August 15, Eno assured that the process would be transparent and strictly based on merit.
He explained that applicants would sit for a computer-based test with instant results, stressing that there would be no slots or favoritism in the selection.
The governor also noted that previous recruitments in the state were marred by irregularities, but vowed that this would be different.
He added that he had inspected 23 projects across the state in recent days and was inspired by the active involvement of youths, engineers, artisans, and female project leaders, urging more hard work and dedication.
