Vice President Kashim Shettima is currently in Daura, Katsina State, leading a delegation of high-profile officials for the Third Day prayer for the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The prayer, a significant tradition in Islamic burial rites, is being held at the late president’s residence this afternoon.
Joining the Vice President are former Vice President Namadi Sambo, Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda, Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, and a host of ministers.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had, during the late former president’s burial, directed Shettima to not only oversee the return of Buhari’s body to Nigeria from London, where he passed, but also to remain in Daura to ensure the peaceful conclusion of the burial rites.
The Vice President and the accompanying ministers are expected to return to Abuja later today to attend a special Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting convened in honor of the late former President.
