VP Shettima, Gov Zulum Visit Kwara, Console Victims of Massácre

Vice President Kashim Shettima headed a Federal Government delegation to Kwara State on Saturday to offer condolences following a terrorist assault on Nuku and Woro villages that left over 170 people dead.

During the visit to Kaiama Local Government Area, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, who was part of the delegation, offered words of solace to the bereaved families. “As Muslims, we believe in destiny, but it is our sincere prayer that this kind of tragedy will not happen again,” he stated.

Shettima conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s directives, which include the deployment of an army battalion to restore peace in the affected region. He also announced that the President has instructed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to dispatch relief materials to displaced residents.

“We are here on behalf of President Tinubu to commiserate with the people of Kwara State over this tragic loss,” Shettima said. He described the victims as peaceful citizens who were attacked during their daily routines, an event that has shocked the nation.

While confirming the military deployment, the Vice President withheld operational specifics, citing the classified nature of counter-terrorism efforts. He assured the community that “all hands are on deck” to secure the area.

Governor Zulum, who chairs the North-East Governors’ Forum, also extended his condolences to the people of Kwara on behalf of the states in his region that have been severely impacted by insurgency.
