Unknown Assailants Fatally Stàbs Taraba Varsity Student, Mark Sagarga

In a shocking turn of events, Mark Sagarga, a 200-level student of Biological Sciences at the Federal University, Wukari, was brutally stabbed to death by unknown assailants. The incident occurred on the night of Thursday, June 15, 2023, as he was returning home from campus.

The lifeless body of the 20-year-old student was discovered in the early hours of Friday, near his off-campus residence in Wukari town, not far from the university’s main gate. Adding to the tragedy, the assailants also made off with Mark’s mobile phone, leaving behind a grieving family and a devastated community.

Confirming the incident, the Secretary General of the Students’ Union Government (SUG), Comrade Linus Mary Samuel, expressed shock and horror at the gruesome attack. In a statement released on Friday, Comrade Samuel described the incident as an unprecedented act of violence within the university’s history.

“On reaching there, we found in a pool of blood a lifeless body of a student who is later identified as Mark Sagarga, a 200-level student of Biological Science at Federal University, Wukari,” the statement read. “Mark was stabbed to death by unknown hoodlums at late hours of last night while he was returning home, who also carted away with his phone.”

The SUG, in collaboration with the school security personnel, immediately contacted the police and informed the Dean of Student Affairs about the distressing development. Mark’s body was subsequently transported to the General Hospital in Wukari, where he was officially pronounced dead by the attending physician, and his body was placed in the mortuary.

The SUG representative expressed deep condolences to Mark’s immediate family, the university community, and the entire student body for the profound loss they have suffered. Promising justice, Comrade Samuel assured everyone that no stone would be left unturned in bringing the perpetrators of this heinous act to justice.

“We shall do all within our reach to make sure they are brought to book and made to face the full wrath of the law. Adieu Mark!” the statement concluded.
