The United Nations, UN Peacekeeping Mission has suspended some of its peacekeepers in response to reports an alleged sexual abuse misconduct in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
BBC reports that the accusations are against eight South African peacekeepers, adding that the UN has a zero-tolerance policy for sexual exploitation and abuse.
The United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO), which has over 14,000 troops in eastern DR Congo, has faced previous accusations of sexual abuse as well as accusations of failing to protect civilians from armed groups.
