Two students from Audu Bako College of Agriculture in Danbatta died after their boat capsized in the middle of Thomas Dam in Makoda Local Government Area, Kano State.
However, one Student, Abubakar Salisu, was saved, according to Daily Trust, and the hunt for the other students is still ongoing.
The event happened on Tuesday morning, April 30, 2024, as the students were returning to the institution, according to Makoda LGA Sani Muhammadu’s information officer.
He said that during a rescue effort, the body of one of the students, Abubakar Sanusi, was found.
Sani said that Ado Salisu, the other student, had not yet been located when the rescue effort was put on hold, but that it will resume this morning.
He claims that Hassan Haruna, the canoe’s driver, survived the incident.
The information officer’s reports were confirmed by a Danbatta local named Abba Muhammad, who also said that the student who was saved was responding to treatment at Danbatta General Hospital.
