Two States To Experience Two-Day Electricity Blackout – TCN

Electricity consumers in Gombe are poised to encounter blackout for two days on Thursday and Friday as a result of arrangement by TCN for the maintenance job on its facilities.

The TCN stated that its maintenance team would be undertaking regular checks and clean up of the bay involving 150MVA, 330/132/ fir a period of Eight hours each day, from 9 am to 5 pm.

Ndidi Mbah, the TCN General Manager of Public Affairs, stated that transferring load during this exercise would be from the 150MVA transformer to another substation,  T2A. This transfer would cause a transient disconnection of bulk power to Jos and Yola DisCos via the T1A transformer.

Mbah stated that the interruption will only affect bulk supply during transition period but not eight hours of maintenance time.

During the transfer period on both days, Gombe and some portions of Yola and Bauchi states will be involved. The TCN promised to ensure that bulk power supply would be restored rapidly via the transformer as soon as maintenance operations were done.

It is in this context that the TCN maintenance team recently carried out preventive maintenance on Jos-Lafia 30 kV transmission lines to deal with a redundancies which had lingered for a while.

The company apologized for any inconvenience that might have been caused to electricity consumers in the area under consideration. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
