Two Young Progressive Party members in the Abia State House of Assembly have defected to the ruling Labour Party.
The legislators, Fine Ahuama representing Osisioma South State Constituency and Iheanacho Nwogu representing Osisioma North State Constituency, said that defecting from their previous party will allow them to work with Governor Alex Otti to further grassroots democracy for the sake of their constituents.
The two members of the YPP announced their defection in two different letters to Speaker Emmanuel Emeruwa on Tuesday.
They claimed that their expulsion from the party was due to their anti-party actions since they supported the current administration in the state.
They pledged to be loyal party men in their newfound shelter.
Later, Nwogu and Ahuama paid Governor Otti a visit at the Government House, Umuahia’s Presidential Lodge.
They were escorted on the Labour Party’s platform by Uchenna Okoro, the House Majority Leader, who represents the Arochukwu State Constituency. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
