Business magnate Aliko Dangote has refuted claims that U.S. President Donald Trump is unhappy with his refinery, arguing instead that the United States is a major beneficiary of its operations.
Speaking at a press briefing in Lekki, Dangote stated that the narrative of U.S. opposition is false. He explained that Nigeria currently imports significant volumes of crude oil from the United States due to insufficient local supply.
Dangote revealed that Nigeria purchases an average of 100 million barrels of crude annually from the U.S., a figure that could double to 200 million barrels if supply increases. He further highlighted the reciprocal nature of the trade, noting that Nigeria also exports aviation fuel and gasoline to the United States, creating a mutually beneficial energy partnership.
