The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has bestowed the chieftaincy title of Aare Atayeto Oodua of the Source on Ghana’s President, Dr. John Mahama.
The ceremony was held on Monday in Ile-Ife, Osun State, as part of the celebrations marking the Ooni’s 10th coronation anniversary. President Mahama arrived to a grand welcome in Ile-Ife after first being received at an airport in Ibadan.
According to Ghanaian state broadcaster GTV, the title translates to “A President who reorganises the global space for humanity.” The event at the palace was attended by prominent figures, including business magnate Aliko Dangote and media publisher Dele Momodu.
The installation highlights the enduring cultural ties and diplomatic recognition between the two West African nations.
