Troops N£utralize IPOB/ESN IED Expert (Photo)

The Nigerian Army’s troops, in collaboration with their sister services and other security agencies, neutralized an IED expert of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed affiliate, Eastern Security Network (ESN), in Orsu – Ihitteukwa, Orsu Local Government Area, Imo State, on Wednesday, May 2, 2024.

During a clearance operation around Udaah, Identa Ihitteukwa, and Awo Idemili in Orsu LGA of Imo State, the Nigerian Army, Navy, Air Force, Nigerian Police, Department of State Services, and the Nigerian Securities and Civil Defence Corps came into contact with the dissidents. The latter opened fire, threw hand-held IEDs, and fired locally manufactured rockets (Ogbunigwe) at the advancing troops.

The militants scattered, setting off many IEDs as the army moved forward. While connecting the explosion to its power supply, one of the rebels was neutralized.

Recovered items include defused IEDs, pipes, cables, and other materials used in the manufacture of explosives as well as locally manufactured rocket launchers. Additionally, the forces cleared a number of ditches that the ESN members had been using as roadblocks to connect the settlements. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
