Troops Neutralizes Armed Bandits, Rescues Kidnapped Victims In Northeast (Photos)

In a relentless effort to combat banditry and other criminal activities in the Northwest region, troops of the Joint Task Force Northwest Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) have conducted a series of clearance and offensive operations.

Intelligence sources revealed that on 30th – 31st July 2023, troops of Sector 2 Combat Team 3 of OPHD, in collaboration with the Nigerian Police Dandume, swiftly responded to a kidnapping incident in Tankari village, Dandume LGA of Katsina State.

The troops engaged the bandits in a gun duel, forcing them to abandon their kidnapped victims. The rescued individuals were safely reunited with their families in Dandume Town.

Another offensive operation was conducted in Kinfau Kirtawa, Ilellah general area, Batsari LGA of Katsina state, where troops of Sector 2 Team 9 of OPHD encountered armed bandits.

During the encounter, two bandits were neutralized, while others escaped with gunshot wounds. The troops also captured a motorcycle used by the bandits during the pursuit.

In Sokoto state, troops of Operation Hadarin Daji deployed at Sector 3 Forward Operating Base Marnona carried out an offensive operation, identifying and destroying bandit hideouts in several villages of Wurno and Goronyo LGA.

The bandits fled due to the superior firepower of the troops, and five operational motorcycles used by the bandits were captured.

Additionally, troops of Sector 1 Team 10 of Operation Hadarin Daji conducted a clearance operation in Zamfara and Kebbi states, clearing bandit hideouts in Dan Makarwa, Tundun Wada, and Mairairai village, Danko-wasagu LGA of Kebbi State.

The Commander of Joint Task Force Northwest Operation Hadarin Daji and General Officer Commanding 8 Division Sokoto, Major General Godwin Mutkut, praised the dedication and determination of the troops.
