The Government of Borno State, on Monday, launched a substantial food and non-food palliative distribution to mitigate the impact of the hardship following the removal of the fuel subsidy.
During the flag-off ceremony held at the Muna garage suburb of Maiduguri, the State Governor, Babagana Zulum, stated that the initiative was targeted at 300,000 households of six members each, equating to approximately 1.8 million people.
Zulum said the initiative was in response to the recent economic hardships ravaging round the country triggered by the withdrawal of subsidies from petroleum products.
He noted that the palliatives is in line with the federal government plans to cushion the effects of subsidy removal.
He said,
