Olubunmi Oluwaseun Kuku, the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), has underscored the crucial role of aviation in driving President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision for a more efficient trade system through the National Single Window (NSW) initiative.
In a statement on her official X handle, she said: “Trade cannot thrive without the support of every critical sector, including aviation.”
She explained the success of the NSW would depend on the collective effort of all stakeholders across various sectors, stressing that aviation is pivotal to ensuring seamless cargo movement and trade facilitation.
According to her, collaboration remains the backbone of the initiative, which aims to position Nigeria as a globally competitive trade hub.
Expanding on aviation’s role, she added:
“This single window represents a significant step in shaping our nation’s trade landscape and making Nigeria a powerhouse in the global economy. But let me start by emphasizing the critical role of the aviation sector, which I represent in global commerce. “
“According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), air cargo facilitates the transportation of goods worth over $8 trillion annually, which accounts for about 33% of global trade volumes. “
“With Nigeria’s immense potential in manpower, resources, and capacity, the single window initiative is pivotal in helping us capture a larger share of this global trade.”
