The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared that it is premature to speculate on who will emerge as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Saturday, the party’s interim National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the ADC is currently focused on building a strong and cohesive political platform, rather than engaging in early permutations.
“We don’t have any favourite aspirants or candidates. We are not having any conversation at the moment,” Abdullahi said.
“Nobody has ever had any conversation about who will be the party’s flag bearer. We believe it is too early in the day. “
“Our focus now is to build a political party that is strong enough to deliver on the mission that we have set for ourselves.”
Although there are speculations linking three prominent political figures — former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, and ex-Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi — to the ADC’s 2027 presidential race, none of them has officially declared their interest.
