On Saturday, July 26, 2025, Jennifer Awele, widow of the late Nollywood actor Junior Pope, took to social media to mark what would have been their 11th wedding anniversary.
Sharing throwback photos from their wedding, Jennifer reflected on the pain of celebrating the day without her beloved husband, who tragically died in a boat accident on April 10, 2024.
In a deeply emotional post, she wrote:
“It’s 26th July 2025… Our supposed 11th Wedding Anniversary… We Nor Do Photoshoot This Year … Haaaa!!!”
Expressing the weight of her grief, she continued,
“Omooooo when it sometimes gets soooo overwhelming… JP will come back ooooo cz who did he leave this work for?”
She added that she never realized how healing genuine hugs could be until after his passing.
Despite the sorrow, Jennifer drew strength from his memory:
“I write today with mixed feelings… Pained at your physical absence but somewhat joyed that you indeed live on. Keep interceding and watching over us… You are SORELY missed!!!”
Her tribute touched many hearts online, as fans and celebrities alike offered prayers and words of comfort.
