The Federal Government of Nigeria has secured a $238 million loan facility from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to strengthen Nigeria’s national power grid.
The agreement was reached following high-level engagements at the ongoing 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in Yokohama, Japan, led by President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Power.
The loan is expected to support critical investments in transmission infrastructure, enhance grid stability, and improve electricity access nationwide.
Officials say the intervention aligns with the administration’s drive to deliver reliable power supply as a foundation for industrial growth and economic competitiveness.
