President Bola Ahmed Tinubu welcomed retired General T.Y. Danjuma, a respected elder statesman and former Minister of Defence, during a courtesy visit at the State House in Abuja on Saturday.
The meeting, confirmed by official sources including the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), featured warm exchanges and photo sessions between the two leaders.
General Danjuma, a significant figure in Nigeria’s post-independence history, served as Chief of Army Staff from 1975 to 1979 and later as Minister of Defence between 1999 and 2003. Over the decades, he has remained a prominent voice on matters of national security, unity, and governance.
The visit comes amid ongoing national discourse on banditry, terrorism, and broader security challenges. Danjuma has recently participated in events addressing regional security concerns in the North East alongside state governors, adding context to the engagement.
