President Bola Tinubu has officially launched the Nigerian Gas Trading, Clearing and Settlement Platform, establishing the nation’s inaugural regulated online marketplace for natural gas.
This initiative, referred to as the Gas Trading Licence, Clearing House and Settlement Authorization, introduces features such as real-time pricing, standardized contracts, transparent transactions, and secure payment systems, transforming a sector historically influenced by hidden and exclusive deals.
With this development, Nigeria joins a select group of African nations, including Egypt and South Africa, that have implemented formal commodity-based gas trading platforms.
