President Bola Tinubu has approved the immediate reconstruction of several federal roads in Niger State, including the 120-kilometre Mokwa–Bida Road, the 63-kilometre Mokwa–Makeri Road, and the 123.5-kilometre Bida–Lanbata Road.
The three projects, totalling 306.5 kilometres, will be reconstructed using reinforced concrete pavement to ensure durability and long-term value.
The President has also approved the extension of the Bodo–Bonny Road to link with the East–West Road. According to a statement, the project will be executed as a dual carriageway, constructed with concrete pavement, equipped with solar-powered street lighting, and delivered through a competitive bidding process.
The statement conveyed the appreciation of the Minister of Works, David Umahi, who commended the President for prioritising the reconstruction of roads along critical national economic corridors. Umahi noted that the projects would significantly enhance connectivity, trade, and development.
