TikTok has temporarily disabled its LIVE streaming feature in Nigeria during late-night hours, from approximately 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., as part of a safety review.
The restriction has significantly impacted Nigerian creators, many of whom depend on LIVE streaming for income through virtual gifts and monetization. Late-night slots are often peak periods for viewer engagement and revenue.
The platform has already removed millions of videos and thousands of LIVE sessions in Nigeria this year for breaching its guidelines, reflecting a wider effort to strengthen content moderation.
Creators are calling for transparency regarding the duration of the restriction and guidance on how to adjust their streaming schedules without losing earnings. TikTok has not yet announced when the late-night LIVE feature will be restored.
