Those Instigating Us To Topple Tinubu’s Govt Will Fail – Military

There have been recent claims that various groups are trying to incite members of the Nigerian Armed Forces to overthrow the current democratic administration led by President Bola Tinubu.

However, the Military High Command has swiftly addressed these concerns, firmly asserting that such attempts will not succeed.

The military is content and functions effectively under democracy, and it is committed to upholding the hard-won democracy of Nigeria.

In a message conveyed by Brigadier-General Tukur Gusau, the Director of Defence Information, it was stated that these efforts to incite military intervention are “unpatriotic and wicked.”

The military remains focused on its constitutional obligations and will not entertain any notion of plotting a coup against the democratic government. The armed forces of Nigeria are resolute in their commitment to carrying out their responsibilities without distraction.

Gusau’s response comes as a response to calls from some quarters for the military to step into a leadership role in light of perceived failures of past democratic administrations.

He clarified, “Reports urging military interference in our democracy are highly unpatriotic, wicked, and an attempt to divert the Armed Forces of Nigeria from fulfilling its constitutional duties.

Gusau also dispelled notions that the welfare of Nigerian military personnel is being neglected, emphasizing that no individual or group will be allowed to incite military personnel against the current government.

Addressing concerns about military welfare, Gusau said, “While the well-being of our personnel is a priority for us, we reject any attempt by any individual or group to encourage the law-abiding Armed Forces of Nigeria to engage in any unconstitutional overthrow of the government.”

He affirmed the Armed Forces’ dedication to constitutional authority, asserting that the leadership under General CG Musa is unwavering in ensuring the complete subordination of the military to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s constitutional leadership.
