“They’re Paid To Do So” – FCT Minister Wike Responds To Protest for His Resignation

I Won’t Be Distracted – FCT Minister, Wike Reacts To Protests Calling For His Resignation

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has responded to the recent demonstration at the National Assembly by some individuals advocating for his resignation.

The Secretary, in his reply on Thursday, mentioned he is not disturbed because not everyone will concur with the policies of the government, but actions must be taken in the interest of the people.

Freshreporters News reports that some Abuja indigenes and members of civil society organizations on Wednesday, assembled in a sizable protest at the National Assembly complex, demanding the resignation of Wike.

The demonstrators criticized Wike’s leadership, branding it as inept and lacking vision for the development of the Federal Capital Territory.

Adamu Kabir Matazu, speaking on behalf of the demonstrators and representing the Network of Civil Societies for Economic Sustainability, called for an investigation into Wike’s land allocation policies in the FCT.

However, in reply, the former Rivers State Governor asserted that he remains unaffected by the actions of those who protested against him because he knows they were simply remunerated to do so.

The Secretary stated he won’t be diverted by such things as he stays focused on delivering the mandate of President Bola Tinubu to the people of the FCT.

Speaking during the commencement of remedial work on Asokoro, Wuse roads, Wike said: “Somebody told me that some people were carrying placards… Frankly speaking, I don’t even have time to see all that.
